The Greens elevators are small. That's the entire story, condensed. Emaar built this community in the early 2000s before RERA minimum cabin sizes existed, and the passenger-plus-cargo elevator in most Greens buildings maxes out at about 190 cm internal height and 115 cm depth. Anything taller than that — and a lot of modern furniture is taller than that — gets disassembled or carried up the stairs.
We move roughly 6–10 households a month across The Greens and The Views. Here's what makes these buildings their own moving category and what proper apartment movers need to plan for.
The Elevator Problem, in Detail
The Greens' 13 residential clusters — Al Ghozlan, Al Nesayem, Al Samar, Al Arta, Al Jaz, Al Thayyal, Travo, Al Dhafrah, Al Thamam, Al Ghaf, Onyx, Al Sidr, Golf Towers — share a similar elevator spec. Standard internal cabin is around 190 cm tall, 110–115 cm deep, 100–105 cm wide. Some older clusters (Al Ghozlan 1, Al Nesayem 1) have even tighter cabs at 180 cm.
For reference: a standard king bed headboard is 180 cm wide but often 210 cm tall before disassembly. A West Elm or B8 sectional is frequently 240 cm in at least one dimension. Your 220 cm tall IKEA PAX wardrobe is going up the stairs or getting taken apart in the lobby.
Movers who haven't worked The Greens often quote a 4-person crew for a 2-bed move. We quote 5 — one person specifically dedicated to stair-carrying disassembled components while the other four keep the lift cycle running. That extra person is AED 300–400 on the invoice but saves 90 minutes.
Courtyard Access and the Truck-Parking Dance
The Views and The Greens' inner-cluster buildings (the ones not directly on Emirates Living Road) don't have direct truck access. Al Arta 4, Al Nesayem 2, Al Thayyal 3 — these back onto the community pool courtyards, not the road. Loading means parking the truck on the ring road and rolling items 60–100 metres past the pool.
Community management allows short-term loading in the visitor car parks closest to the building, but you need a gate-registered vehicle. The security desk at the entrance off Sheikh Zayed Service Road needs advance notice — call community management 24 hours before, or your mover will wait 20 minutes at the gate while the guard calls around. We submit vehicle details to Emaar community 48 hours ahead as standard practice.
The Onyx towers and Golf Towers have their own covered drop-off bays with 2.4 m clearance — anything taller than a standard 3-tonne truck won't fit. Schedule a smaller van for the initial load and shuttle if necessary.
Pricing: What Greens Moves Actually Cost
| Home Size / Location | Typical (AED) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Studio (Al Thayyal, Travo) | 1,300 – 1,800 | Lift-friendly sizes |
| 1-bed (Al Ghozlan, Al Nesayem) | 1,800 – 2,400 | Small-lift premium |
| 2-bed (Al Samar, Al Arta) | 2,400 – 3,200 | Stair-carry likely for some pieces |
| 3-bed (Al Sidr, Onyx) | 3,200 – 4,200 | Larger units, more disassembly |
| The Views 1-bed (Travo A/B, Arno) | 1,900 – 2,500 | Views has slightly better access |
| The Views 2-bed | 2,600 – 3,500 | Canal-side parking restrictions |
| Golf Towers 2-bed | 2,800 – 3,800 | Dedicated service lift available |
Moves between Greens clusters are often cheaper than equivalent-size apartment moves elsewhere in Dubai — shorter distance, familiar crew, same community permit. A Greens-to-Greens 2-bed swap typically runs AED 2,000–2,600 total. A Greens-to-Marina 2-bed is closer to AED 2,800–3,500 for distance and traffic.
Ramadan, Summer, and Move Timing
Emirates Living community rules restrict moves in residential areas before 08:00 and after 20:00. The Greens is strict about this — security will stop late arrivals, not just warn them. During Ramadan, community management informally extends the window to 22:00 for resident-approved moves, but you need written approval.
Summer is actually the easiest season for Greens moves. Schools are out, lifts aren't competing with morning school-run families, and the community pool courtyards are quieter. We book July mid-week slots for customers who want the smoothest Greens experience.
Adjacent Community Logistics
The Greens is wedged between some of Dubai's biggest employment hubs and residential options. Common move corridors from here:
- Greens → TECOM / Barsha Heights. 8 minutes. Our most common Greens-upgrade path. See the TECOM move guide.
- Greens → JLT. 10 minutes across Sheikh Zayed Road. Also frequent. The JLT move guide has building-level detail.
- Greens → Springs / Meadows. 7 minutes. Families upgrading from apartment to townhouse. See our Springs and Meadows move guide.
- Greens → Marina. 12–18 minutes depending on Sheikh Zayed Road state. Longer-distance moves add AED 300–500.
What Movers Who Don't Know The Greens Get Wrong
Three specific mistakes we see constantly:
- Quoting based on bedroom count alone. A 2-bed in Al Ghozlan is a very different move than a 2-bed in Onyx. The first involves disassembly, stair-carry, and courtyard walking. The second has a cargo lift and direct truck access. Same bedroom count, 30% different cost.
- Not booking the lift in advance. Most Greens clusters don't have formal lift reservation, but arriving at 10:00 without a call-ahead means you're sharing with other residents. We phone the building's security desk the day before.
- Parking on the wrong side of the cluster. Emaar community patrols ticket trucks parked in resident bays. Visitor bay clear of the pool side is the only safe option, and there are only 4–6 of those per cluster.
Our apartment moving team has standing familiarity with every Greens cluster elevator and courtyard layout. For the deeper cluster-by-cluster building walkthrough, see the companion Greens building-by-building guide — that's for incoming residents. This one is about hiring the right mover.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are moves in The Greens more expensive than other Dubai apartments?
The Greens buildings use pre-RERA elevators with cabins around 190 cm tall and 115 cm deep — smaller than almost any newer Dubai tower. Modern furniture (tall wardrobes, king beds, large sectionals) often doesn't fit and needs disassembly or stair-carry. That adds a 5th crew member and 60–90 minutes of labour to a typical 2-bed move, pushing costs 10–15% above similar-size apartments in Marina or JLT.
What are the access rules for moving trucks in The Greens?
Emaar community requires 24–48 hours notice to the security desk at the main Sheikh Zayed Service Road gate. Trucks park in visitor bays near each cluster — inner-cluster buildings (Al Arta, Al Nesayem back rows) require rolling items 60–100 metres past the pool. Residential-zone rules restrict moves to 08:00–20:00, enforced by community security.
Do The Views buildings have easier access than The Greens?
Slightly. The Views has better canal-side road access and some buildings (Travo A/B) have dedicated cargo lifts. But the canal-side parking is restricted during certain hours, and the same 08:00–20:00 residential rule applies. Move costs are 5–10% lower than The Greens on average — AED 2,600–3,500 for a 2-bedroom versus AED 2,400–3,200 in The Greens for similar access.
How much does a 2-bedroom move in The Greens cost?
A 2-bedroom move in The Greens typically costs AED 2,400–3,200 on a weekday, including a 5-person crew (one extra for stair-carry), a 3.5-tonne truck, disassembly of king beds and tall wardrobes, and community security coordination. Weekend adds 15%. Inner-cluster buildings (Al Arta back row, Al Nesayem back row) sit at the upper end because of courtyard walking distance.
